The Mediation Process

Mediation provides parties in dispute an alternative to expensive, adversarial litigation, and to resolve conflicts that cannot (for legal reasons) or should not (due to the high emotional or financial toll) be addressed through the legal system.

Mediation is usually a fraction of the financial and emotional cost; it empowers parties (represented by attorneys or not) to craft their own solutions guided by a neutral third-party facilitator.

We believe that the primary function of a mediator is to facilitate effective communication and negotiation between the parties, to explore alternative, and to provide forward-looking solutions that the parties themselves can freely reach. We offer mediation and arbitration services throughout California, Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region.

Providing Mediation, Arbitration, Facilitation

Robyn combines over 37 years of legal, judicial, and mediation/arbitration experience to offer a candid and proactive focus to alternative dispute resolution in both civil and domestic law matters. Robyn is licensed to practice law in California (since 1987), in U.S. District Court (California Eastern and Central Districts), and is a former California Judge pro tem. She is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court (2011) and has practiced in Colorado since 2007 (Rule 204.1 Single Client Counsel Certification).

Mediating since 2008, Ms. McDonald has been consistently recognized by her peers and the courts as a top lawyer for over twenty-five years (Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent® Peer Review Rated Attorney since 1993), top Women Lawyers (Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent® Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers, since 2011) and as a top mediator by her clients (Martindale-Hubbell Client Champion Platinum Distinction (since 2018), Preeminent® Client Review Rated Attorney/Mediator since 2009*).

Her instinctual ability to see what’s important to each party has resulted in a consistently high rate of resolution and party satisfaction. She helps create an atmosphere that encourages safe, candid and forward looking communication, and realistic options for resolution.

In private practice as an arbitrator and a private mediator, and working as a contract mediator with the Colorado State Office of Dispute Resolution, Robyn works extensively in Colorado and offers ADR services throughout the Rocky Mountain Region and California.

Qualified, Trained, Experienced

Not all mediators are sufficiently trained, qualified or experienced. In Colorado, there are no formal requirements to become a mediator - Do your homework and know who you choose.

Since 2008, Robyn has conducted over 5,000 mediations and arbitrations in the areas of civil, domestic, HOA and personal injury. MMG mediators are trained, professional, and our qualifications and education exceed the Recommended Guidelines for Mediator Education and Training set forth by the Mediation Association of Colorado and the Colorado Bar Association. Our team is comprised of experienced attorney-mediators who are knowledgeable in the law, and passionate about assisting parties to resolve their matters without costly legal battles.
